The Gift of Asher Lev (Chaim Potok)
Painter Asher Lev lives in France after painting the controversial Crucifixion, because of which he was asked to leave their Jewish community in Brooklyn. One day, however, he learns of the death of his uncle and together with his family is coming to America for the funeral. But instead of one week of mourning, he stays for longer and his life and life of his family start to move in a completely different direction than they had previously imagined.
Asher Lev is a Jew. Asher Lev is also a renowned painter and author of the Brooklyn Crucifixion. Asher Lev is a gift, a gift from God, but this gift is seen as a curse of God's people. The book of gifts, understanding and hard choices, and especially about the mission and its fulfillment.
