Paul Auster

Paul Auster
(1947)

American writer. He lives in Brooklyn, New York. Born into a Jewish family in New Jersey. He is the author of numerous novels, scripts and also writes non-fiction. He is also a poet, translator and a film director. He uses a form of criminal and detective genre to reveal the existential nature of life of the characters. He created his unique, compelling, postmodern style.

His best known works include the novels The New York Trilogy, Leviathan, Mr.. Vertigo or prose memoir Invention of Solitude. He has directed several films (such as Smoke, Inner Life of Martin Frost).
